There are a lot of options to use as a bed bug treatment that is available in our store. But before you start a bed bug treatment, you should get to know your opponent. This will allow you to maximize bed bugs control and eradication. Bed bugs go through five stages of maturity, and an adult bed bug can reach up to about a fourth of an inch long. Bed bugs are reddish-brown in color and flat in appearance. Bed bug nymphs, on the other hand, are transparent and turn a bright reddish tint only after feeding. Bed bugs are one of the most annoying insects that can ever invade a home and can potentially cause quite a few problems. Bed bug infestations are known to get out of hand in a rapid rate so bed bugs treatment should be applied as soon as possible.

How to Get Rid of Bed Bugs

Before you apply any type of of bed bug killer, the first step of bed bugs control is to identify the pest. So how do you actually know if you have bed bugs or not? There are several ways to detect them, but the most common way people usually find out they have a bed bug problem is through visual evidence. Bed bugs can leave a lot of waste behind their trails, which is harder to hide than they are. If you ever noticed dark spots on your mattress it could be blood or even feces the bed bugs have left behind for you. They could also leave trails of dead skin, eggs, and even leave their dead behind. Another way you could find out, which is probably the worst way, is from actual bed bug bites. Ever woke up and noticed tiny red bites all over you without knowing why? Considering that bed bugs strike at one of the worst times, as their name implies, they can be a little more than a nuisance. Bed bug treatment can be a little bit difficult because of their activity times peak when we are asleep. Sleeping during the night, makes us very vulnerable to bed bugs. Moreover, their bites are so small, that we will never be aware of them until the next morning. Take control of your bed bug infestation, find all the right information on how to kill bed bugs, and use our professional bed bugs control products and the right bed bug killer to finally get some quality rest you deserve.

Q. Preventing Bedbugs?
What might you suggest for a prevention plan?
A.

Working on a bed bug prevention plan depends on the kind of businesses your customers have and efficacy of the plan to control the spread of pests within the treatment area.

While most customers are homeowners, the real challenge for pest management professionals (PMPs) is bug prevention in hotels, inns, resorts and bed & breakfasts. Guests and travelers who come from different areas of the country are considered main carriers of bugs. And although there are no machines to identify if the luggage and suitcases coming into a hotel are bug free, administrators and owners would want to train their housekeeping staff in identifying the havoc that these pests have done while cleaning the room. The plan should also include hiring an in-house PMP that can treat the affected area as soon as the presence of bugs is declared.

There is only so much that can be done to prevent bug infestation. However, the owners should always have a plan B if there is already an infestation in the one or more rooms. If bugs are discovered, the hotel staff should immediately quarantine the room and implement prevention treatments in nearby rooms. The owners cannot risk having the other rooms infected, so they have to act fast and efficiently. PMPs and hotel staff can place different kinds of traps: glue traps, pitfall traps, etc. Wear light-colored work clothes is important to see if there are bugs that have taken shelter in the clothes. Immediately discard work clothes or send them to the laundry area as soon as soon as the treatment is over. Rinse them with hot water and use hot dryer to make sure that the bugs or eggs are removed.

There are no surefire ways to totally prevent bug infestation, but owners can start with the basics. These measures include installing box spring encasements, thorough washing of pillowcases, blankets, and other sheets, daily housecleaning and vacuuming of the rooms, and placing traps in the usual areas where bugs might breed and survive.

Q. Resistance Unraveled?
I read recently in a trade magazine that bed bugs are building up a tolerance to pyrethrins. How does this happen? If a bed bug is killed by a pyrethrin it's dead. How do the other bed bugs begin to build up a tolerance? How do bed bugs in another location build up a tolerance?
A.

We can blame Natural Selection at the increasing resistance of a number of insects to pesticides. Biological traits and natural adaptation are the reasons why a number of weeds are resistant to some herbicides and some rodents still survive after digesting rodenticide-laden food or traps. The same can be said of people who seem to have better immune systems.

In the case of common, there are studies and proof that they have become resistant to synthetic pyrethroids. Synthetic pyrethroids are man-made version of pyrethrin and are made from petroleum derivatives. Pyrethrin, on the other hand, is an organic compound that attacks and paralyzes insects' nervous systems. Over the years, the insecticide industry has been dependent of synthetic products and in effect helping produce the next generation of bugs which are immune to its effects.

While pyrethrin is a better choice, there have been studies that showed cockroaches recovering from pyrethrin treatments. Recent insecticides that contain pyrethrin are now manufactured with one or two synergists for added efficacy. Other studies have shown that bed bugs have become immune to the deadly effects of dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane (DDT), a water soluble insecticide. And since pyrethroids and DDT share some similar modes of action in attacking nervous systems of insects, a number of bugs are also considered immune to pyrethroids.

However, the concern of most people is the effect of synthetic pyrethroids, Are they still effective against insect infestation? Can synthetic pyrethroids create "super bugs"? The answer is yes and no. The bugs may look like they are adapting to the affects - some species are hardly taken down by the treatments, while others take longer or stronger doses to die. What we are seeing is the survival of the fittest, their genetic composition may have the capability to block certain effects of the insecticide. When these surviving bugs reproduce, their offspring are likewise resistant to the insecticide.

It travel by breeding and finding temporary shelter in clothing. From there they could set up shop in almost anywhere in the country. Their survival has always depended on moving and breeding in places that could give them the most ideal living conditions and food sources. Their ancestors have survived through this strategy and must have passed on genes that have better resistance on the effects of pyrethroids.

Dr. Mike Potter of the University of Kentucky said that some populations of the common bed bug have shown 1000x factor of resistance to synthetic pyrethroids. This means that the effect of the said compound is likely to have no effect of the target insects.

Currently the best plan is to use insecticides interchangeably, that is using different kinds of treatments over a period of time. Through this strategy, insects will not be able build up resistance against the products. From pyrethroid, use a neonicotinoid or a Pyyrhole then an Oxadiazine. Use desiccant dusts like silica gel (Drione, Tri-Die) and diatomaceous earth (MotherEarth D) and other products that do not have an effect on the nervous system. They kill insects by seeping into the bugs' exoskeleton and affecting bodily functions through dehydration. Dessicant dusts also have long-term effects, and are still effective even after several years.

Moreover, their effects to humans and pets are almost minimal. Dessicants are not exactly new, but they are your best bet when it comes to confusing bugs' immune systems and are much safer that other products.

Q. Resources For Bedbugs?
My company has good results with our bedbug program, but I worry about resistant bed bugs. We constantly are rotating products. How are Phantom, aerosols and Talstar P working out in the field? Where can I find a book on bed bug info and a book on pesticide info?
A.

Constantly worrying about bedbugs is common among homeowners and pest management professionals. Bed bugs apparently have become resistant to synthetic pyrethroids, which paralyze the insects' nervous system similar to dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane (DDT) and synthetic ingredients that are often used to kill bed bugs. So far you are on the right track in rotating treatments and products against these insects. Using different products and prevention programs discourage bed bugs to build immunity and resistance, and are more likely to eliminate these pests.

Using diatomaceous earth when treating voids and small cracks may also help the efficacy of the products that you are using. Diatomaceous earth is organic and it causes the insects to develop water pressure deficiency, eventually killing them by dehydration.

Looking for excellent and updated reading materials might be harder than you think as developments and innovations change and improve so often. However, I recommend The Bed Bug Handbook from Univar, since it has the most comprehensive information of the bugs and discusses important details on how to prevent and eradicate these pests.

I would suggest that you keep yourself in the loop for the most recent innovations in pest control by reading online journals and trade magazines. You may also want to attend seminars and lectures, which are usually sponsored by pesticide manufacturers. Some academic institutions also publish articles and studies related to pest control and management. Other universities develop organic, less harmful ways and treatments to wipe out specific insects.

One supplier of entomological publications is BioQuip Products, which include books about pesticides, has several interesting titles in their catalogs like books on pest management and surefire measures to get rid of insects. I advise that you choose books that are not older than eight years from date of publication, because as I said earlier, improvement and new technologies are made every day to sustain this growing industry.

Another way keep updated is by communicating and getting feedback and recommendations from peers, sales representatives , and local colleges.

Q. Bed Bug Bite?
How do I get rid of bedbugs from my bed? do I have 2 throw my bed away or do y'all got something that I put on my bed so my bed won't go 2 waste bcuz I just bought this bed not too long ago.
A.  You don't necessarily need to throw away the bed. A great way to save your mattress and box spring is to purchase an encasement that has been proven to be bed bug and/or dust mite proof. Encasements are definitely not as expensive as purchasing a new mattress or box spring so it's a great way to approach a cost friendly and efficient bed bug treatment.

Q. my neighbor has bed bugs.?
A neighbor in my apt. building has bedbugs, I have never seen one and not sure what to look for. The manager here is forcing us to sign a contract making us responsible for the bugs. My question is, if you haven't seen any of them and are not sure you have them, is there a preventive something I can do to make sure I don't have them or to keep me from getting them.
A.  There is no real preventative for bed bugs. However, if you are in an apartment complex and the infested apartment is adjacent, above, or below your apartment, you will need to think about treating the wall voids and all cracks and crevices because the wall void is the primary means of travel for bed bugs and adjacent apartment may easily become infested. You can treat the wall void area with a dust product like Alpine Dust Insecticide and try to bed bugs monitor trap.

Q. Bed bugs in my house... help..?
Hey, I have bed bugs, I have sprayed every bed(3)in my home, I have in cased every mattress. I willing be moving soon & dont wish to take these creatures with us. Please HELP me. Tell me what products i should purchase as well as what I should do with our clothing so that we dont carry them to our new home. Thank you Kindley
A.  Bed bugs require different insecticides for optimal control due to their small size. They are able to hide anywhere including the mattress, sofa, other furniture, hanging frames, and even the wall void area. Our kits have been put together by our technicians to provide you with all the different types of insecticides that will treat different areas accordingly.

Here is a link to one of our kits:Bed Bugs Control Kits

This kit includes a pressurized aerosol spray, a dust product, a liquid concentrate, an IGR (insect growth regulator) and also a duster to apply the dust. The aerosol remains active for 2 weeks to a month and you apply this in intimate areas like your furniture (mattress lining, head board, couch, etc.).

The liquid concentrate can be applied to larger surfaces like the base boards of a room, the surface around the bed, etc. and has a longer killing effect for up to 3-4 months.

Dust products have the longest residual time for about 5-6 months, however, it is restricted to areas of minimal or no contact like the wall void area, under and behind furniture, and hanging picture frames.

Q. after spraying and cleaning home, what is the cause of bed bugs returning??
A.  There are a variety of reasons why you may have a re-infestation of bed bugs. It could be that your treatment plan was not thorough enough. Moreover, if you live in a complex with neighboring homes that are connected (apartment, townhouse, etc.), your neighbor's infestation may be causing a re-infestation in your own home. Also, if you have traveled recently and came back, you may have brought them home from another location. Keep in mind that just one treatment will not eradicate a bed bug infestation. You must treat regularly and continuously until the infestation is completely rid of.

Q. Bed bug Treatment?
hi, I am no able to decide on the best bedbug-treatment for my apartment. I think there are some in my couch and some in one of the bedrooms. Every now and then, i see one crawling on the walls. I have already put covers on my mattress, but would like some advise on the best insecticide/spray to use indoors. Also, how do I identify the area where these bugs go or come from. Thanks.
A.  We recommend using our bed bug kits for a thorough treatment. We have various kits that can be viewed by the following link:Bed Bug control kit

The kits include various products such as an aerosol spray, liquid concentrate, IGR, and dust products.

The aerosol spray is used for intimate areas like furniture, mattress seams, head boards, etc. The residual on the spray lasts about 2 weeks.

The liquid concentrate is used on larger surfaces such as the surface around the bed. It has a longer killing effect of 3-4 months.

The IGR is an insect growth regulator that prevents the insects from reaching a state of maturity at which they can reproduce.

The dust product is restricted for use in areas of minimal or no contact, such as the wall void area, under/behind furniture, etc.

Q. Recommendations?
My mother moved in with me from an apt building 8 months ago. The building had bed bugs very badly. I have been finding them in my home now lately. I have caught some of them, so I know this is what they are. I have an 8 room house with 2 baths and a full basement, and a garage out back. Exactly how much of these products would I need to completely treat my whole house, and would I have to do the garage also? (My mothers belongings are stored out there.) We have been bitten in two bedrooms and the living room. (That we are aware of). I am the one getting bit the worst, and I want them GONE!! Any help would be appreciated!
A.  The best recommendation that we could give to you would be our Bed Bug Kit Commercial. This will include all the products that are needed to control bed bugs and they are put together by our technicians so that they may target all areas of the structure.

Bed Bugs can not survive outdoors, if weather conditions are too hot or too cold, they will die after a certain amount of time.

However, if you would like, you may use the liquid insecticide or aerosol to treat the garage. When beginning treatment, you may want to start by treating the rooms you have been bitten in and then for precaution, treat the other rooms as well.

You must understand that bed bugs can "hitchhike" to any area, therefore, its important that you try not to sleep in a new room because they may just as easily infest the new room as well as continue infestation in the previous rooms.

Upon receiving the kit, you may contact us for more detailed instructions on how to use each product.

Can bed bugs get into the insulation inside an oven or refrigerator?
A.  It can crawl into anywhere if it is a crack and crevice. It may be that the insulator for refrigerators and ovens are too hot for it survival and we have never had any incidences where the bed bugs have come out of insulation, however, we can not guarantee that they can't crawl inside the insulation.

Q. what about travelling - hotel rooms short term?
A.  With the assumption that this inquiry is in regards to bed bugs, here are a few tips that we can give you for traveling. You must inspect. Inspect such areas like between the mattress and boxspring, hanging fixtures on walls, behind the bed frame, under cushions in armchairs or other pieces of furniture, and etc. Hang your clothes and keep the luggage on a metal stand that is separated from wall. Lastly, we have a newly stocked item that is great for traveling. The bed bug tent was made precisely to give you comfort during rest so that you are not bit up by bed bugs at night. Since you cannot be completely positive that the room is not bed bug infested, you want to make sure that you won't be hosted on in case you are living in a room that is infested with bed bugs, even for a short period of time.

Q. Well I`m not sure if it is Fleas or Bed bugs I ordered the flea bombs but now I`m not so sure will the flea Bombs kill them all?
A.  For either fleas or bed bugs, it does take several treatments to eradicate an entire infestation. One of the very first steps in pest control is to identify the pest. You must identify what the pest is before you apply pesticides since all pests will react differently to each product. Moreover, pest control products are often times, made for a specific target pest. After you identify the pest, feel free to contact us again and we can help you select a product that will best fit your treatment plan.

Q. how do I get rid of the bed bugs in my apartment??
I just found out that my 2 two apartment is infested with Bed Bugs. Is there any type of flogger I can buy that will get ride of them. I need help... Please tell me what I can do?
A.  Unfortunately, we do not carry a fogger that will kill bed bugs. Since they are so small, they can virtually hide almost anywhere and this is why it is best to use a residual spray like Suspend SC or Cyonara on most broad surfaces and in cracks and crevices, aerosols like Bedlam or Phantom Aerosol in the cracks and crevices on the bed, and dusts like Alpine Dust or Mother Earth Dust can be applied in wall voids for optimal protection.

A.  The bed bug kits that we feature on our website have been specially arranged by our professional exterminators to fit the needs of people with different sized homes and for different locations of treatment due to some pesticide restrictions in a few states such as NY. Most of our pages for the kits include a shortened version of how to use and where to use each pesticide contained in the kit. The full version can be located on the actual product label or the pdf file of the product label on our website. All this information can be directly referenced from the specific product pages, when clicking on the actual item and scrolling down to its descriptions.

Q. bed bug infestation?
Hi, Thank you for the information on bed bugs on your website. We are battling them in our house. Had a professional treatment but I have seen a couple of adults and a nymph even after that. They used some dust and I sprayed every nook, corner and wall with the Home Insect Control spray after the professionals sprayed. We placed all the mattresses in bed bug proof mattress covers. To treat the recurrent, could you suggest some professional sprays, etc.? I am trying to order of Sterifab, Gentrol IGR and Suspend SC. Any idea if these are good, or if Cyonara or the diatomaceous earth are better? Bedlam better than Sterifab due to residual effect? Any help is appreciated Thank you
A.

Bedbugs reproduce at a very fast rate and is hard to control and treat fully.

One key ideas to keep in mind is that you do not want to over spray any area for they will just avoid the area and since all the pesticides are a form of contact kill, it will do you no good.

For mattress and furniture or anyplace or thing you will come into direct contact with it is best to use steri fab or bedlam. These are the only two pesticides labeled to be able to use on the mattress itself. Steri fab is a non residual so once the pesticide is dry it is no longer affective. The bedlam is a residual and lasts up to 3 weeks in one application.

Gentrol IGR is a very good product to use for it will deduct the population rate.

As for the suspend and cyonara they both work very effectively but these are delayed action kill pesticides therefore it takes time to kill the bed bugs.

The dust works a little bit differently. Every dust is different but the mother earth d works by taking a layer of the shell off at a time. Therefore the is a delayed kill as well. one application of the dust lasts up to six months unless there is pesticide sprayed over the dust or it is brushed off.

Hope this information is useful and please let us know if there is anything else we can help you with.

Q. do it yourself bed bugs treatments?
A.  Bed bug treatments require a variety of bed bug products so that you can target all areas of the home with the different products.

We always recommend our kits because kits include all the necessary products that you need. These products are pressurized aerosols, liquid concentrate, IGR, dust, and duster. The kits will vary, but you can find one that best fits your needs.

We also have non-chemical means of controlling bed bugs. Keep in mind that these are not to be depended on to completely eliminate bed bugs, but it will radically help in controlling the population. These materials are things like the mattress encasement, box spring encasement, and the steamer.

Moreover, we have a new product called Eco Keeper Bed Bug Tent that will protect you during the night so that you are not bothered by bed bug bites. You can rest well without the worry of being bit by the bed bugs.

Q. Bed Bugs for apartment unit?
I want to get a quote for bed bug treatments in my apartment. It is around 1100 square feet with two bedrooms each with queen beds. There are no directly visible signs of bed bug infestation, but and inspector said there were minor traces making it a small case of bed bugs. We never had a case before and it seems somehow a very small amount have come into the bed or dresser that is close. If you could send me a quote for your visit so I can show the property manager the price so they can potentially use your services.

Bed bugs in car and trunk. What do I need to purchase to get rid of the buggers??

Q. Which kind of treatment is good to kill bed bugs with on couches??
I have found the bugs on the surface of the couch.
A.  For surface treatment on couches or any area where people may come in to direct contact with often, Bedlam or Sterifab would be highly recommended. Bedlam contains a 2 week residual time and is used by many professionals. However if you or anyone else who will come in contact with the treated surface has sensitive skin you may want to try Sterifab.

Q. do you have to shave head to get rid of bed bugs?
A.  Fortunately, you do not have to shave to get rid of bed bugs. Unlike fleas or lice, bed bugs cannot easily reach a person's scalp or maneuver through hair as easily and so they will not be found in the hair or head. However, there are many places in a room that can be potential hiding spaces for bed bugs. Therefore, it may be difficult to get rid of them with just one treatment depending on the size of the infestation. With our bed bug kits though, you can jump start your treatment plan. We can help you with product information or bed bug control if you email us at info@pestmall.com or give us a call at 1-800-788-4141.

Q. how do you know if you have bed bugs?
A.

The physical attributes of the body of a bed bug allows it to be able to hide in many areas.

Bed bugs do not always show up on the surface and it is hard to actually spot one. The best places to start looking for bed bugs are cracks and crevices near or around the food source.

Bed bugs tend to stay out of the light which leads them to find such hiding spots in dark areas such as mattresses, bed frames, box springs, nearby furniture, carpeting, baseboards, inner walls, tiny wood holes, or bedroom clutter. Bed bugs are usually found in groupings near the host although they are known to be able to travel as far as 100 feet for a meal.

You could also look for egg cases, dark stains (that come from the blood they've consumed and exposed of), or shells of bed bugs that were shed (also known as exuviae). It is imperative to look at every crack and crevice possible when inspecting for bed bugs.

Q. How to get rid of bed bugs in Illinois ?
I realized that I had bed bugs in January 2012. I called a pest control company. They did a semi-inspection and gave me a quote of $350 for one room. I would first have to uproot my entire bedroom. I did some research and then bought a mattress and pillow encasement. I also bought diatomaceous earth and a duster. I haven't slept in my room since 1/6/12. After treating, I finally returned last night; and they're still here!!!!! I really can't afford costly treatments right now; but I need to be able to sleep. My daughter has now seen 1 or 2 in her room. I also saw one on a recliner in the living room. Please help!!!
A.  Since bed bugs are so small and can fit in virtually any crack or crevice, it is extremely important that you are able to treat all areas. Since some products cannot be used in specific areas, we recommend purchasing kits and supplement material as they are needed because the kits will provide you with insecticides for all target areas. These kits usually include an aerosol for furniture, a liquid concentrate for baseboards and large general surface areas, and dust for the wall void. If you have any questions on the products or bed bug control, feel free to call us at 1-800-788-4142 or email us at info@pestmall.com.

Q. What do I do??
I live in an apartment, the landlord has sprayed for bed bugs and I have also set off a bug bomb in my apartment. I have never been bitten, neither has my son or husband. However, I have noticed a few dead ones in the bath tub, every so often. Also I had a friend stay with me for a week. She was bitten several times, but again her two children never had any bites. My friend also woke up with one crawling on her one morning. What should I do and what should I have my friend do to ensure she doesnt take any home with her?
A.  First, let's discuss your friend's luggage. It is important that when she arrives home, that all washable materials is put into the laundry and laundered at hot temperatures. Hot water wash and hot dry is the best for bed bugs because the temperatures will kill them. If she has toys or other luggage, they must be kept outside and treated before they are brought in. She can use Bedlam Bed Bug Spray or Sterifab to spray on the luggage. The items should be left out for at least one day. The spraying should be done in the most thorough manner.

As for your home, we do recommend that you get monitor traps to see how bad the infestation is. We also recommend purchasing a kit. A bed bug kit will allow you to control the bed bugs in most or even all the hiding spots. Since it requires different formulations of insecticides to control bed bugs, you do want to make sure you have all the materials you need to get rid of them. The bed bugs kits that we provide will provide you with the necessary products.

Bug bombs will not be effective for bed bugs. They are so small and can hide in many different cracks and crevices. Since the bug bombs will only be effective if the insecticide comes in contact with the bed bugs, it is difficult to kill bed bugs with just the bomb.

If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact us at 1-800-788-4142.

Q. i work at a hotel as a housekeeper....?
we have 1 room infested with bed bugs. the hotel keeps trying to get rid of them but when they think theyre gone there not. several customers have complained about getting biten. they have been treating the room for 10 days now and still no luck. whats the 100% best way to get rid of them for good and can i get them on me even if i dont go into the room??? im kinda freaking out b/c i dont wanna bring them home to my 3 young children.
A.  Bed bug treatment may take more than 10 days and requires thorough and consistent treatment of a variety of pesticides. It also requires non-chemical treatment of thorough vacuuming and laundering. Vacuuming and laundering should be done frequently and regularly. There is no 100% fool-proof way of getting rid of them. You just need to be consistent and following the labels of the insecticides.

Q. transporting prevention!?
I moved into a place 1 month ago and found out 2 days later that there is a bed bug infestation. Needless to say I am moving seeing as how my landlord is a scum lord and encouraged my neighbors to lie to me about the problem and will not spring for a proper exterminator. I've seen them on my couch, futon, and clothes. I know how to get my clothes to the new place w/out bringing the bugs with me, but have heard scary stuff about furniture. the dept. of agriculture informed me that they can lay dormant for months after treating a futon mattress then all of a sudden spring up again. I don't have the financial means (being on a fixed income)to treat everything. I am suing said "land"lord for damages (She knew about the bed bugs since last summer) & still rented. How do I ensure I do NOT bring ANY bed bugs with me to my new place? They are also burrowing into and under the carpet bedding, so heating the apartment and using canned spray has not worked. The infestation is coming from my neighbors unit across my hall. They are on the door frames as well. I'm waking with welts from the bites and am paranoid to fall asleep. PLEASE HELP!
A.  There is no sure way to prevent bringing them into the new house. However, you can treat your furniture with labeled insecticides that will kill bed bugs on contact. Bedlam is contact kill aerosol spray that was made specifically for bed bugs and will provide a short residual of 1-2 weeks. We do recommend that you treat the cracks and crevices with Bedlam every week until you move. Keep in mind that you should be very thorough when you are treating for bed bugs because they are able to hide in virtually any crack or crevice. If you have any questions about products or bed bug control, feel free to contact us again.

Q. i have sprayed for bedbugs now what do i do for the linen?
A.  Linen should be laundered in hot water and hot dry. We do not have any products that can be directly applied to the linen. You can try our steamer, which is a non-chemical and safe way to treat your mattress and linen without using strong pesticides.

Q. when i move from my bug bed infested house, what can i bring to my new house with out bringing them with??
A.  Almost all materials are subject to infestation and it is difficult to say what you can and cannot bring with you with you are moving. We do advise that you hot water wash and dry your clothes and seal them before bringing them with you to a new house. Also, you want to make sure that all furniture is treated and without bed bugs before you bring in the furniture. If you have toys or other materials, they should be thoroughly inspected before the move. You can use aerosols like Bedlam or Phantom Aerosol to treat your materials before moving.

Q. A dog has identified bedbugs in a car, bedroom and luggage?
what should be done to address the porblem in the CAR? I have heard - on a hot day, turn on the heat and leave the car running for an hour in the sun. Or spend $600 to have the car vaccumed and then steamed.
A.  Heat treatments may or may not work in a car because temperatures have to reach 160 degrees F. We recommend using a product like Bedlam bed bug spray or Steri-Fab. Sterifab will only continue to kill as long as it is wet and Bedlam will continue to kill for up to a week. Leave treated areas to completely dry before coming in contact with that treated area again.

Q. we cant sleep because of bedbugs. how can u help us get rid of them please??
A.  Bed bugs are rather frustrating because of their size. Because they are able to hide in almost any crack or crevice, you may need different types of insecticides to target all areas of the home. We have jump start bed bug kits that include all the different types of insecticides that are necessary to control bed bugs. These kits include an aerosol like Bedlam, a liquid concentrate like Lambdastar, and a dust like Alpine. Q. what spray can i use to get rid of bed bugs?
i have only noticed them in the last couple of nights and only in our bedroom we have checked everywhere else in the house we only got bit in bed my husband has fell to sleep on the couch alot and has never got bit what can we do to get rid of them
A.  Unfortunately, not one product will get rid of bed bugs entirely. You will need to use a variety of formulations made for specific areas of the home to gain a complete control of bed bugs. For this reason, we have put together bed bugs kits that will give you a jumpstart on treatment. Keep in mind that a single treatment will not get rid of bed bugs, but instead, it may take several treatments. Some of the main products used to target bed bugs are Bedlam, Evergreen Dust, and Lambdastar 9.7 with Gentrol IGR. If you have any specific questions on bed bugs and bed bug products, please feel free to contact us again.

Q. Bed bugs travelling in my luggage??
On a trip in California I stayed in a Motelroom in Stockton - to find out that I had been severely bitten by bedbugs during the night. One had crept into my hat - I killed that one. A very unpleasant experience, but it made me aware of the problem that bugs might have crept into my luggage and I could "import" them home. Of course I will immediately wash all my clothes when returning - but what about the suitcase what about the leather clothes that I am wearing? Would it be an option to put the leather garments into the dryer to be on the safe side? I understand heat of 55 C should kill any remainig bug.
A.  For your clothes, you should immediately throw them into the wash and wash them in a hot water cycle. A temperature of 120 degrees F will kill all stages of bed bugs. Your luggage should be left outside until it can be treated. Use Steri-Fab or BedLam to spray your luggage. When using either of these products, please make sure to avoid contact until after the treated material has completely dried. Unfortunately, for your leather material, we are not sure how to treat for that. You may spray Steri-Fab, but it would have to be cleaned afterwards. We do apologize that we were not able to better assist you.

Q. is there a plastic wrap for campers??
I live in a 30 foot travel trailer. I have been geting bed bug bites for monthes now and have pretty much gutted the camper. with no relife from the bugs I have slowed them down. I would like to inclose the camper in a tent of some kind and bomb the camper with pyrithium (sp). Can I use a plastic cover and a fogger with this product in the fogger and just bomb the whole camper to get ride of the bugs? I think thay live in the walls.
A.  Unfortunately, bombing does not provide any long term control for bed bugs and it certainly does not eradicate the infestation. With bed bugs, you must be very thorough and target all cracks and crevices. Inside the wall, you can apply dusts like Evergreen Dust. Along the base, we recommend that you apply a liquid concentrate insecticide like Lambdastar 9.7 that is diluted with water and sprayed onto surfaces. All treated areas must be completely dry before reentry.

Q. How safe are bed bug treatments??
I have a young child who goes everywhere and gets into everything. It worries me to use bed bug treatments that might make him sick if he was to ingest them. So how safe are they?
A.  Bed bug products are safe to use as long as the product has dried completely. Dust products, however, can be ingested or even inhaled. For this reason, we always advise that dust products are applied in areas that are inaccessible by children or pets. These areas are places like the wall void, behind or under furniture, behind hanging picture frames and etc.

Q. I work overnight and I stay up during part of the day and they come out and try to attack but I kill them instead do they always return to where they live if I follow them?
I saw one last summer killled it and cleaned my place. My landlord has junk shops below my apartment that sells used crap and since then a few more has shown up what should I do?
A.  Unfortunately, bed bugs require a lot of effort to get rid of. Consistency and thoroughness are the key to getting rid of bed bugs. Because of their size, they are able to hide in virtually any crack or crevice. Since they are able to hide in any cracks or crevices, it does require different types of insecticides to completely treat a room. That is why we always recommend bed bug kits. Bed bug kits have been put together by our technicians to provide you with the different formulations of insecticides. Although they vary slightly, we have different kits that are made according to the number of rooms and will generally include the same types of insecticides. The first and most common type of insecticide that is used is an aerosol spray. Aerosol sprays or ready to use sprays do not require any mixing and is usually applied to intimate areas like furniture. The most common aerosol spray that is used to kill bed bugs is a spray called Bedlam Bed Bug Spray. Aerosols have a short residual time, therefore it must be applied once a week. It is applied on areas like bed frame, in between the mattress and box spring, on chair frames, on the lining of couch cushions and underneath the couch and bed. Our kits also may include two different types of liquid concentrates that must be diluted with water and sprayed onto surfaces with a sprayer. The first is a product called Gentrol IGR. IGR stands for insect growth regulator and although it does not have a killing effect, it controls bed bugs by regulating their physical development so that they are unable to mature and reproduce. The second type of liquid concentrate is the killing agent. This may be Suspend SC, Cyzmic CS, Lambdastar 9.7 or FenvaStar concentrate. The killing agent and IGR can be mixed in the same gallon of water. Concentrates are applied to areas like the baseboard or the immediate areas around furniture. They have residual times of about 3-4 months indoors and so it only needs to be applied once every 3 months. *For both aerosol sprays and concentrates, all treated areas must be completely dry before re-entry. To detect if it is dry or not, you may use gloves and a paper towel to gently press on treated areas to check for dampness. The last type of product that is included in our bed bug kits are the dust products. Dust products are ready to use and do not have to be diluted in water. They are applied in hard to reach and inaccessible areas like the wall voids, behind and under furniture or areas like behind hanging picture frames and under lamps. Some of the dusts that are included in our bed bug kits are the Alpine dust or the Evergreen dust. Dusts have the longest residual time and can be applied once every 5 months. All products can be purchased separately; however, if you have not treated for bed bugs before, we do recommend that you jump start by purchasing a kit. Each product has a product label that includes dilution rates and application directions. These product labels must be reviewed thoroughly before application.

Q. bugs?
We are worried that we have some kind of bug that is bitting us. Not everyone is bitten up with the bug. we have seven people living with us. four of us have the bites three of us do not have those bites. That else leave bites like bed bugs.
A.  It may be best to have a professional check to see if you are infested with bed bugs. Bed bugs may also leave spots of blood and feces remains on the seams of the mattress. Bed bugs require constant and thorough treatment. They also reproduce very quickly, so it would be best to identify the pest and treat accordingly as soon as possible.

Q. I work for a cleaning company, we are cleaning a home that is very dirty. We don't know what we may find . They have some TVs and other things that were left behind one of our people would like to take a TV home. Is this a good idea? Others don't want to bring any thing home with them not even bugs. Our boss thinks we should change our cloths and toss them, is this something that should be done? I was there yesterday and didn't see any bugs but the place is very dirty. Are we just wigging ourselfs out??
A.  We suggest washing the clothes in hot water promptly in order to kill any insects that may use clothing as a method of travel. As for the TV, we suggest spraying items such as Bedlam to make sure unwanted pests do not travel to your home. Taking precautionary measures can save you from dealing with hard-to-control infestations such as bedbugs.

Q. Still infested??
We discovered our bed bug infestaion 9 days ago. Not sure how long infested but our bedroom appears to be only room affected. Went to work right away cleaning the mattress and box springs with warm soapy water, dusted and encased box springs and mattress, washed and encased pillows, dusted all around floor moulding and other cracks. First few days found a few flat(not engorged) adults on ceiling and walls during the day and eliminated them. Now finding 1st-3rd stage nymphs(also during the day) on walls and ceiling. No bites since encasements, is finding stragglers normal and for how long? Where could they be coming from? We dusted outlets as well
A.  It is normal to find stragglers, but it is difficult to state a time frame for when they should be disappearing. Bedbugs are tiny insects and can practically hide in any small cracks. We suggest doing a perimeter treatment of the room to ensure that the infestation is under control. It is important to treat thoroughly and consistently when it comes to bed bug infestations. Please be patient and use products as labeled. Most professional products have a residual time that will kill the bed bugs even after the product is dry.

Q. can u get bed bugs from sanding next to someone with them?
A.  No, it is not likely that someone would carry them. Unlike fleas, they do not regularly remain on their host. Bed bugs will feed and then hide in nearby cracks or crevices. However, if the infestation is very bad, then there are chances that clothes, purses, bookbags, shoes, and etc. can become hiding spots for bed bugs.

Q. what does a bedbug's efect on childern or any adult's??
A.  The most apparent effect that bedbugs have on people, children and adults alike, are going to be the bites. Like other insect bites, bedbug bites can cause an inflammation of the skin, redness, and an irritable itchiness. The way a person reacts though may vary from some people not having a reaction at all to the bites to very severe reactions of skin irritation.

Q. A friend came over the other day and was sitting on our sofa. They called this morning saying they had bedbugs. I have vacumed, will lysol spray be enough to make sure they are gone? Or will we have to buy something else??
A.  We do not recommend spraying Lysol or any other chemicals that are not specified for bed bug treatment. We recommend using Bedlam Bedbug spray in order to spray onto the sofa seams. If the infestation is just on the sofa, we also recommend purchasing something like the Eco keeper bedbug traps to place on the legs of the sofa in order to prevent bedbugs from contaminating other areas. Bed bug treatment requires consistent, thorough treatment. If the infestation persists in different locations, we recommend using our bed bug kits to treat different areas.

Q. How Do I Use The Products Most Effectively??
I ordered Suspend SC and Delta Dust from you to help kill bed bugs. I ripped up and disposed of all my carpet. I have put Delta Dust in all the electrical receptacles. And, I have sprayed extensively with Suspend, including cracks and under baseboards. I have a large quantity of DE Dust I would like to use on cracks and crevices for residual control, but, if I apply it, won't it be covering up the Suspend I've already sprayed? And, if I put the DE Dust down first, then spray, wouldn't it make the DE Dust ineffective? What's the best way to provide the longest residual control?
A.  Delta Dust and DE Dust has the same residual time and so when you apply either product, it should not be in areas that you have already or will treat with Suspend SC. Suspend SC is applied to base boards and furniture frames. Delta Dust or DE Dust is applied in the wall void, under and behind furniture, and all other areas that are not readily accessible. If you have any further questions or comments, please feel free to contact us again.

Q. Please recommend treatment for bed bugs.?
I am treating a vacant 1 bedroom apartment approx 450 sq ft of space that previously had some bedbugs. I live in Louisville Ky. Can. you recommend a set (kit). of chemicals I can use to eradicate the problem? thank you Clay Wiles
A.  Any of our kits will be a great jump start to bed bug control. You can select a kit depending on the number of rooms you are trying to treat. However, if the space is vacant, you may not need an aerosol to treat the furniture every 2 weeks. Instead, just use Suspend SC with Gentrol IGR along the base boards and the immediate carpet around the baseboards. Use Alpine dust in the wall voids and you can access the wall voids by the switch plates or outlets. You can also apply the dust on hanging fixtures. Retreat with the Suspend and Gentrol once every 2 months (once a month if the infestation is heavy) and retreat with the Alpine once every 3 months.

Q. HELP, bedbugs?
1. OK, strsnge -- I've looked I cannot find any treatmet for the actual bite on the skin and all the itching. No of the comments seem directed toward the actual after a bed bug9S) bite(s). Am I asking a dumb question? I bought some Neosporin - is this be best or would calamine lotion be better? Thanks someone -- anyone -- everyone!!! 2. Also -- is it just the one bed bug that has the fatal attraction, or are there numerous of this little vampires each feeding on its corner of the body???
A.  Unfortunately, like mosquito bites, there is no real way of getting rid of the bite from a bed bug. Calamine cream or anti-itch/allergy creams may relieve the itchiness and the redness. Not just one bed bug feeds on a host. Bed bugs reproduce quickly and all bed bugs must feed to survive.

Q. can they travel from person to person even if your not sleeping in the bed?
A.  If there is a valid food source, they usually will not stray. However, if they were transferred to a different location by clothes or toys and etc., then they can move from person to person. Moreover, if the infestation becomes very large, they can access the wall voids to travel from room to room.

Q. Will alcohol kill bedbugs just by spraying them...i know it kill them if you catch and drop them in a jar of alcohol...will it kill the eggs??
A.  It may have a very short term effect on them but we know that alcohol will not penetrate the eggs. We recommend using a contact kill spray like Bedlam instead of alcohol.

Q. To treat or not to treat?
My friend stayed with at our house for a week visiting from out of town. The first night she was here she woke up with several bites on her leg and arm but we thought nothing of. Since then there have been no more bites and she has gone back to her home. This was the weekend of the 24th of August and she stayed 5 days. Now I find out her apartment building is potentially being condemned due to a bed bug infestation and roach infestation EWW! I want to know if I need to treat my house for bedbugs? There have been no bites on anyone in the house but from what I understand they can lye dormant for a while. Please help thanks Tina
A.  You should definitely have an inspection done to your house before applying any pesticide. It is not only unlawful to apply pesticides without identifying a pest, but it is also unsafe to apply pesticides without a target. Once you can identify that you do have an infestation, you can start treatment immediately.

Q. how to get rid of bed bugs before becomes infested?
My daughters boy friend had bed bugs at his house now we have found a couple in our house. What is the best way to eliminate the problem. We are not infested and have only found a couple.
If you have any further questions about the products, the kits, or general bed bug control, please feel free to contact us again.

Q. best bed bugs treatment?
Is the active ingredient propuxor good for bed bugs treatment?
A.  The active ingredient Propuxor is a frequently used active ingredient by professionals for general pest control. You can find propuxor in Invader HPX. However for bed bug control we recommend using Lambdastar. Lambdastar is a microencapsulated insecticide which targets bed bugs at both its adult and nymphal stages. It is currently in very high demand among professionals.

Q. bed bugs treatment at home?
My son has a lot of allergies, what is the best way to get rid of bed bugs without too many chemicals?
A.  If allergies are of a concern it is recommended that you take a copy of the products Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) to a physician before using the chemicals. Until then, you can effectively use steamers and monitoring traps to control their numbers to a minimum.

Q. see below?
My father in law has bed bugs in his 5th wheel trailer. He hired a company to come out and eliminate the bugs with no success. So after him struggling for three weeks to kill the bugs we let him borrow our motorhome. Now after two days, he says they are in our motorhome. He didn't see them but he had bites on his feet. We are at a total loss on how to resolve this problem.
A.  Bed bug control requires more than just one type of insecticide since they are able to hide in virtually any crack or crevice, which is why we recommend the bed bug kits that our technicians have put together. Bed bug kits include a variety of insecticides that will target all different areas of the home and may include aerosol spray, concentrate insecticide, IGR, and a dust product. All these products have their respected residual times and so it may be required to do follow up treatments at separate times. Bed bug control also requires precision and consistency. You must be very thorough in where you check for isolated areas of infestation as well as where you treat. If you have any questions on the products or would like additional information on bed bugs, please feel free to contact us again via email at info@pestmall.com or by phone at 1-800-788-4142.

Q. Bed bug?
My daughter in law have a really bad problem with bed bugs there only in her room and her parents room what is the best product to use
A.  Bed bug control requires much more than the use of just one product. Since they are able to hide in many more places than just in your bed, you will need a variety of products to control all areas of your room. That is why we recommend our bed bug kits. Bed bug kits provide you with a variety of pest control products so that you are not limited to what areas you can treat. If you have any questions or concerns about the bed bug kits, please feel free to contact us again.

Q. does bombing help?
A.  Bug bombs for bed bugs are usually ineffective. This is because the area that bug bombs cover are limited and it also has a very short residual if it has any at all. We recommend using residual insecticides and only non-residual, pressurized aerosol sprays for tight areas like the furniture frame, the lining of the mattress, and etc. If you have any further questions or comments, please feel free to contact us again.

Q. Reading about nuvan strips I like how they would work against bed bugs. Can this treatment be used in a small bedroom placed under a bed or is it better to use just for closets in a bed room??
A.  The DDVP Insecticide, Nuvan Prostrips, are not labeled for use in occupied open spaces. If you are to use them, they must be used in vacant or airtight sealed bags. For bedrooms, you should use a more controlled method of treatment like residual insecticides, pressurized aerosol sprays, and dust insecticides. Q. Do bed bugs infest anything other then beds??
A.  Yes, absolutely. They are not limited to just the bed or mattress. They can hide in virtually any crack or crevice and bed bugs can be found in dressers, night stands, hanging fixtures and picture frames, and etc. They can also be found walking in and out of the wall void by the outlets or switch plates. That is why we provide you with bed bug kits that have a variety of products. Since certain products can only be used on certain areas and also, it is easier to use on just some areas, a variety of product formulations are needed for complete bed bug control. Bed bugs in furniture can be targeted with the bed bug kits that we provide. If you have any further questions or comments, please feel free to contact us again.

Q. bedbuds in a couch?
2 weeks after bombs & spray we found bedbugs on the couch, what can be used on a couch, or should the couch go away?
A.  For bed bugs in a couch or other pieces of furniture, we recommend a controlled application of a labeled pressurized aerosol insecticide. The two most popular bed bug sprays are Bedlam Insecticide and Phantom Pressurized Aerosol insecticide. Either product will work but we do not recommend applying both in the same area. Keep in mind that you are not able to do a broadcast application all over the surface of the couch or other furniture. Instead, treat the frame of the couch. Take the cushions off the couch and spray the lining of the cushions and the underside of the cushion. If you have any further questions or comments, please feel free to contact us again.

Q. Do you have a bed bug spray u can mix in a sprayer to spray entire house?
A.  Bed bug treatment requires more than just one type of spray because each type of spray targets a specific area. Since bed bugs can hide in virtually any crack or crevice, you will need different types of insecticide to treat different areas of the house. Among the different types of insecticide, there are concentrate liquid insecticides that is mixed in water and sprayed with a pump sprayer. Q. I have had a bed bug infestation for over a month now. ?
Have been using DE but still have them. I haven't seen any full grown ones in awhile but they are now in two of my three bedrooms and in the great room. Am going to treat using Cyonara 9.7, Bedlam and the dust. If I do this every ten days, for four weeks will this take care of the problem?
A.  One thing that you have to keep in mind is that although the Bedlam can be applied once every ten days, the Cyonara is restricted to application of once every 3 months. Overapplication of a product and not following residual times for application may have negative effects on treatment. As long as you follow the product label and the application instructions for each product and you do not apply different products in the same area, you will be able to get rid of the bed bugs. For more detailed information on treatment and how to use each product, please feel free to email us at info@pestmall.com

Q. saw your dry ice bed bug traps--do you have any that are for a wider than 4'' leg bed??
have been fighting off an infestation since october--almost there with abaiting them but the traps on the legs of the bed would really help any other suggestions to use
A.  Dry ice was just a method to use as an experimental example and the dry ice itself should not be used. The traps though can be used for monitoring. The traps are not made in a wider diameter, however, the bed can be raised and place on top of circular rubber stoppers that can be placed on top of the traps. Q. Early this year i notice bedbugs in my resintential house and i used the selvin dudu dust to get rid of them but after two week still saw them, which way should i go as per now they are just ectic and i have a one year old kid, pliz advice?
A.  Selvin dust is not a product that we carry so we do not have any information on the product. Bed bug control is very complex but it is possible. We recommend using a bed bug kit to jump start your bed bug control program. Dust products should only be applied in areas that have little or no traffic or contact. Q. what kind of chemcials would one already have in a household to get rid of bedbugs?
A.  As a home remedy, you can use Rubbing Alcohol to directly spray the bed bugs that you see. However, Rubbing Alcohol lacks in long term control and residual time. The bed bugs need to be soaked in the Rubbing Alcohol for it effectively kill them. For Bed Bug Treatment we always recommend using an insecticide with a residual time.

Q. i have a bad bed bug infestation. i have recently purchased DE and using pestacides to hopefully get rid of them. my question is, am i doing enough to get rid of them or do i need to do something else, doing laundry and bagging everything i can.. please help im desprate?
A.  It sounds like you are headed the right direction. The most difficult thing about bed bug treatment is that it takes so darn long!! Consistency and patience is the key to the treatment. Therefore we recommend that you use insecticides with a residual time. DE does have a bit of a residual time so you can use that along crack and crevices, along baseboard areas, and sockets. If you are looking for an effective product to apply on your bed or upholstery, we would recommend Bedlam Bed Bug Spray. Make sure you are using an insect growth regulator with your treatment to prevent them from being able to reach a stage where they can reproduce. A good IGR for bed bugs would be Gentrol IGR.

we thought we had bed bugs, my daughter keeps getting bitten every night and dont get any sleep. we had our place sprayed for bed bugs but she still gets bited and still dont get any sleep.please help us
A.  Bed bug treatment requires several follow up treatments after the initial application. If you only had the exterminator come out once you will either need to have someone come out and respray the area or respray the area yourself with do it yourself products. In doing your own pest control for bed bugs, we recommend starting off with a bed bug kit.

Q. How can transport mikron, drione dust and bedlam spray be used to combat bed bugs??
If transport is sprayed on base boards/ corners of carpet, is it okay to dust the cracks/corners, under carpet with drione or would that cancel any effects? Also, since transport mikron can be used on the seams of mattresses and sofas, is there an chemical interaction between bedlam spray and transport mikron that I should be worried about?
A.  It is best not to mix the chemical sprays in the same area. We recommend you apply the liquid concentrates such as the Transport Mikron along base boards/ cracks and crevices. The dust should be applied to crack and crevices that the liquid spray cannot be applied to such as electrical sockets and behind cluttered areas with lots of wiring. Because dust forms carry a longer residual, some people prefer using dust in hard to reach areas or areas where people will not come into direct contact with often. This is because dust comes in a loose form, therefore limiting the application to undisturbed areas reduces the amount of floating dust particles in the air which could be inhaled. Because Transport is a long residual insecticide it would be best to use a product like bedlam on the beds and sofas.

Q. we have bed bag as you desribe. wht is srogezt spray. Is the price more than home ddpot price.?
A.  For bed bug treatment we would recommend using more than one item for thorough control. Reason being that different chemicals have been designed for different purposes but bed bug treatment requires the attention of different treatments in different areas. For instance, Bedlam is a product that can be sprayed on the Bed and any upholstery lasting up to 1 week. Cyonara is recommended to be applied to cracks and crevices near the surrounding bed and furniture and has a residual time of up to 2 months. All of the products on our website are professional grade products so price ranges may be different than other hardware stores.
